Course: BSE
(General Science) Year
and Section: IV/H7
Resource
teacher: Jeremias M. Omelig Jr.
School: Iligan City East National High School
Your target
At the end of
this activity, the students should be able to describe the interaction pattern
that occurs between the teachers and learners as provided in the curriculum.
Your Map
- Visit a school and observe how the teacher provides the opportunity to the learners to interact with one another in doing one’s role.
- Record how roles are performed by the teacher and the learners.
- Make your own documentation of the dialogue or conversation based on the observed roles that each one performs which you feel could have been livelier.
- Highlight the aspect of the dialogue that indicates the teacher as a role model in developing the process of learning.
Observations
The class starts with a
prayer, then checking of attendance. After checking, the teacher asks students
if they are ready in their assigned task to bring different types of soil.
Students are presenting their soil in front of the class and do some
explanation. After all the presenters the teacher gave some motivation for the
students to still participate in the class.
Situation
Interaction between the teacher and the learners during discussion.
The Dialogue
T. Thank you for performing your assigned task class. As an additional information soil is essential for
life, in the sense that they provide the medium for plant growth, habitat for
many insects and other organisms, act as a filtration system for surface water,
carbon store and maintenance of atmospheric gases. I have a question class, what do you think is the importance of soil in plant growth?
S: Soils support roots and keep them upright for growth ma'am.
T: Very good, another idea?
S: Soils provide plants with essential minerals and nutrients ma'am.
T: Very good, another answer?
S: Soils provide air for gaseous exchange between roots and atmosphere ma'am.
T: Very good, another opinion?
S: Ma'am soils protect plants from erosion and other destructive physical, biological and chemical activity.
T. Very good, another answer please?
S: Soils hold water (moisture) and maintain adequate aeration ma'am.
T: Okay, thank you for your brilliant answer class. Since you already know the importance of soil and its type let's have first a quiz before proceeding to another topic.
(giving a quiz then checking afterwards)
Personal Reflection to the Dialogue:
- Based from the dialogue, the class discussion
has a good interaction wherein the students shared their ideas on the
importance of soil in plant growth. I’ve observe that all the students are
eager and actively participate in the class.
My Analysis
- How important are dialogue and substantive conversation in the classroom in terms of students learning?
- Dialogue is very important even substantive
conversation in terms of students learning for proper understanding of the
students & for clarification, therefore students will really learn about
the said topic and teachers will reflect on how the students participate in the
class.
